  • What should I look for when installing a new furnace? Before you buy a new furnace, you’ll need to consider a few very important things, including:
    • The price of the unit
    • The size of the unit
    • The stage or burner type
    • The blower type
  • After you’ve chosen the right unit for your home or office, you’ll need to have it installed by a trusted professional. Quality installation can actually extend the life of your furnace, so be sure you’re getting it installed by a trusted, certified HVAC technician!

Shopping for a brand-new furnace? Then you probably have a million question, including: Where do I begin? What should I look for when installing a new furnace? Let’s break it down together. If you’re new to this blog series, then welcome! We’re a team of certified HVAC professionals based in Colorado Springs. We love making HVAC education more accessible to everyone.

So, in this blog post, let’s answer the question that has been causing you so much stress: What should I look for when installing a new furnace? Then, we’ll tell you how you can speak with an HVAC professional about your heating needs for free!

What should I look for when installing a new furnace?

Before you choose a new heater for your home or office, there are a few things you’ll need to consider:

  • The price. It’s never a good idea to let price be the ultimate deciding factor. But of course, you’ll need to find a unit that you can actually afford! When comparing furnace prices, it’s important to choose an “affordable” unit. Not a “cheap” unit. Choose a furnace that respects your budget, but don’t choose the cheapest once you can find simply because it’s the cheapest!
  • The size. Getting a correctly sized furnace is extremely important. Larger furnaces tend to push out more heat, but demand more power. Smaller furnaces are cost-effective, but they don’t produce as much heat. You’ll need to find a unit that is large enough to heat your entire home or building, but you don’t want to find a unit that will drain your bank account. A certified HVAC technician can help you find an appropriately sized unit for your home or office.
  • The stage or burner type. Different furnaces have different stages or burner types that are worth paying attention to. A single-stage burner is either fully on or fully off, resulting in less consistent heat and higher energy costs. Dual-stage burners allow your furnace to either run on high or low consistently. On milder days, your furnace will run on low automatically, resulting in lower energy costs. And modulating burners adjust to any level between high and off, allowing your furnace to run at peak efficiency all day long.
  • The blower type. There are three different kinds of blowers that you need to pay attention to. The first is a single speed blower, which means that the unit is either on or off. A multi-speed blower has low, medium, and high settings, giving you more control. And a variable speed blower has the ability to make incremental adjustments, and it is the most efficient type.
