“I want to keep my heater healthy. How often does a heater need to be serviced?”

PictureHow Often Does a Heater Need to Be Serviced? - HVAC Solutions
Great question! Generally speaking, most people don’t think about their heaters too often — or at least, not until they’re having problems with their heater. And by then, their heater has already been severely or even irreparably damaged! So, how often does a heater need to be serviced in order to prevent these kinds of damages? We’ll answer this question and more in this blog post!

If you’re new to this blog series, we’re a team of HVAC experts based in Colorado Springs. We love educating people about all things HVAC. We’re on a mission to help people understand their HVAC units so they can keep them healthy and functioning year-round. So, let’s find out: how often does a heater need to be serviced? Then, we’ll tell you how you can get your heater inspected by an HVAC professional for free.

First things first: how often does a heater need to be serviced?

On average, your heater needs to be inspected and serviced at least once per year. If you have an older unit, we would recommend getting it checked twice per year.

Preferably, though, your heater should be inspected and serviced in the spring and in the fall. This is because heaters typically get used the most in the chilly months. So, if you schedule your tune-ups right before heavy usage, then you won’t have to worry about your heater suddenly breaking down in the middle of a blizzard!

How do I know if my heater is already damaged?

If you believe that your heater is already accumulating damages, there are a few signs you can look out for. Some early signs of heater damage include:

  • Rising energy bills
  • Abnormal and persistent sounds coming from your heater
  • Poor air quality
  • Inconsistent heating throughout your home or place of business
  • Rooms that are always “too hot” or “too cold”
  • Drafty rooms
  • Frequently needing to adjust the settings on your heater

While there are of course other signs of heater damage, these are amongst some of the most prominent signs. If you’ve noticed two or more of the signs mentioned above, then it’s definitely time to get your heater inspected by an HVAC professional. Otherwise, you could find yourself having to deal with a pricey heater replacement in the near future!

Worried that your heater may be damaged? Let us inspect and diagnose it for free!

If you’ve noticed signs of heater damage and you haven’t been keeping up with your annual heater maintenance services, then we would highly recommend that you get your unit inspected right away. That’s where we can help!

As previously mentioned, we’re a team of HVAC professionals based in Colorado Springs. If you’re a homeowner or a business owner in central Colorado, then we’d be happy to inspect and diagnose your heater right away for free! Learn more about our professional heating services today, and request your free inspection!
